HVO fuel is used in diesel engines, so switching to HVO fuel can cut your emissions by reducing the use of fossil fuels as petrol in diesel cars. There is up to a 90% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions when HVO is used as an alternative fuel source.

Use of this biofuel in place of traditional crude oil products in vehicles can lead to reduced production of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter, both of which contribute to poor air quality when released into the air. Reduced particulate matter also reduces ageing in vehicle engines.

HOV fuel is more stable than traditional diesel and petrol fuels due to it being free of sulphur. It has a storage life of over 10 years, which reduces maintenance requirements. It freezes at -40oC so is okay to use during winter. This not only makes it more renewable, but easier to store, transport, and distribute all year round.

HVO fuel is new to the market and many people are reluctant to switch to a new fuel source. For this reason, HVO fuel is still used in minority compared to traditional fossil fuels for diesel engines. However, more awareness is being spread around how switching to HVO fuel can cut your emissions significantly.
