Everything Motoring caught up with Setanta Vehicle Importers LTD Ireland to learn more about the launch of their new truck. Below is what they had to say.
Here at Renault Trucks Ireland we are very proud to be launching our new EURO 6 range. Never before has Renault Trucks taken on such a large venture launching a complete new range, which include the Long Haul T range, Heavy Construction K range, Distribution D range and the Construction C range. Each of these trucks has been put through rigorous testing to ensure the best quality in every element of the truck.
With Long Haul T range, there has been 12% improvement in aerodynamic coefficient reducing drag, which results in better in better fuel efficiency, this new range can cut fuel consumption by 5% in comparison with the previous model. Additional savings of up to 15% can be reached with the Optifuel Solutions programme that we offer. In terms of safety, driving aids such as distance and lane departure warning detectors, the most powerful engine breaks on the market and electric parking brake which is automatically applied when the engine is switched off. Everything about the T range has been designed to enhance the drivers comfort, starting with a choice between flat floor cab (2.1 m high & 2.5 m wide) or a 200 mm engine tunnel, The bunks, up to 800 mm wide, are real beds with high quality foam mattresses. Once folded away, the upper bunk transforms into extra storage space.
The construction K range replacing the Kerax, stands out for its robustness as well as its load and obstacle clearance capabilities as one of the most popular trucks for sale, while the C range is distinguished by its high payload, low fuel consumption and comfort. Both these trucks include the DTI 11 Engine which produces the highest torque on the market. The K range was designed for more extreme applications such as, mining, demolition, earth moving and forestry. All the exposed units are protected by metal plates.
D range, the distribution range. For GVWs up to 26T, the new Renault Trucks D models feature totally new engines with the DTI 5 and the DTI 8 available in a 5 litre/4 cylinder version (including a 240 hp version which is one of the most powerful on the market in this category) and an 8 litre /6 cylinder versions. There is now 35% less cab noise and automated gearboxes come as standard.
